The printer itself will cost you between $1,200 and $2,500 depending on the printer model you choose. Pinter.com also checked the cost of cartridges, and below you will see the cost of B&W pages as well as color pages for the Phaser 6360: Findings: Price per page (black) : 2.0 cents Price per page (color): 8.8 cents
That means the cost of a color page is pretty high for this class of printer. Actually, Xerox offers printers with much lower cartridge cost. For example, the Solid Ink printer Phaser 8860 DN has a cost of 1.6 cents for a black page and only 1.7 cents for a color page. Disadvantages of this printer are that it is rather slow (30 pages per minute compared to 42 pages per minute) and the purchase price is much higher.
Printer.com has discovered that the purchase price of a printer is less relevant if you're printing high volumes. Looking at total cost of ownership, it is said that on average you are going to spend 5 to 10 times the inital price of the printer on cartridge costs.
